Booysen in a online whistleblowers governance training session where delegates are provided insights that assist them understand the necessities of not just doing the right thing when it comes to discovering or suspecting misconduct in the workplace, but more importantly, how to deal with it!

No matter what your position is in your organisation, the chances are very good that you will be faced with an ethical dilemma when you will feel morally obliged to report a particular matter that is, or has the potential to create damage or harm to your organisation, or to your colleagues, and even yourself.  In reality, without the proper support mechanisms, and the correct knowledge of reporting misconduct in place, the chances of reprisal is very high and this may lead to a number of negative consequences.

As a responsible organisation, in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its employees -- including key stakeholders of the organisation -- it is essential that employees and their employers are properly informed and equipped regarding the manner in which to deal with whistleblowers and whistleblowing.  Whilst there are legal protections and requirements that must be considered, equally important is knowing the type of circumstances that could see well-meaning employers and their employees falling short of the various requirements for reporting and protection.
