Momentum builds toward the Southern Africa inaugural compliance awards (2014-08-22)

As a strategic partner of the inaugural Southern Africa Compliance Awards, CGF Research Institute (Pty) Ltd (‘CGF’) is proud to be a part of this auspicious event.
The Awards have been organised by C5 who themselves are a well-established organisation.  Based in the heart of central London, C5 are considered industry leaders specialising as a ‘think tank’, monitoring trends and developments across all the major industry sectors.  C5 are staffed by industry and country specialists, lawyers and other professionals who amongst other, produce over ninety market-leading events each year, and which are attended by thousands of senior delegates from all over the world.

The Southern Africa Compliance Awards will initially represent -- and reward -- compliance professionals across all the industry sectors in South Africa, and recognise the very best individuals, their teams and initiatives and such which reflect their united efforts of a more sustainable, profitable business.

Terrance M. Booysen, ?CEO at CGF, explains why the Awards are such an important development for the compliance community in Southern Africa:

“Whilst these Awards are the first of its kind with international backing in Southern Africa, the Awards and its adjudication panel -- and processes -- will give South African organisations and their respective continent contestants a better perspective of what they may expect when competing at an international level.  With global compliance standards, the benchmark may indeed exceed our own local practices when allocating winners; so even being a runner-up in these compliance Awards will be a great win for any company, large and small.  Through the recognition and association that companies will receive with these Awards, the global platform literally unfolds.  Another exciting aspect of these Awards is that they are not only for the large corporates; even smaller companies are accommodated and they are rated on different, less stringent criteria.  Everyone in the Southern Africa compliance, risk and governance industry will get a chance to rub shoulders at this annual event taking place on our doorstep.  Expectedly, the Awards will attract the very best compliance officers from the African continent, and CGF is honoured to be strategically associated with this long overdue world-class recognition event.”

The event, which will be taking place in Johannesburg on 18th November 2014, will become a regular feature in the diaries of organisations’ across Southern Africa. Organisations will be recognised for their efforts of becoming more aligned to their respective compliance requirements.

Nominations for the 2014 Southern Africa Compliance Awards are open and we have received outstanding submissions from across the regions.  Some of the local entrants include; Sasol Oil, Dell, GE Africa, Aspen Pharmacare Holdings, BHP Billiton, PetroSA, Schneider Electric South Africa, Conlog, Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals and DQS South Africa.
